Enabling Smarter, More Adaptable EV Charging Across North America
Wallbox and Liberty Plugins Partner to Address Evolving Infrastructure Needs
As EV adoption continues to accelerate across North America, one thing is becoming clear: charging infrastructure must be as flexible and forward-thinking as the vehicles it serves. That means rethinking not only the hardware, but the systems and partnerships that support it.
That’s why Wallbox is collaborating with Liberty Plugins, a long-standing developer of EVSE software and access solutions. This partnership marks a step forward in making EV charging more accessible, manageable, and adaptable – particularly for businesses and multi-unit properties facing growing demand and infrastructure limitations.

Making Scalable EV Charging More Attainable
A core part of this collaboration is Liberty Plugins’ Access Platform, a powerful backend service compatible with Wallbox chargers via the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP). For $9/month per unit, site managers gain the tools to remotely monitor, control, and optimize their charging deployments.
At its core, this is about reducing friction, for building managers, operators, and drivers alike.
Key capabilities include:
- Full remote access and diagnostics
- Compatibility with all OCPP-enabled Wallbox models
- A seamless driver experience via Liberty’s mobile app
- Support for DC fast chargers (at $35/month per unit)
This approach gives operators a cost-effective, standards-based way to scale – something that’s been historically difficult in fragmented or mixed-network environments.
Offline Doesn’t Mean Out of Reach: Introducing Liberty CodeConnect™ Wallbox 40/48
As charging expands into more remote and less connected areas, traditional smart charging models that rely heavily on real-time connectivity, face new limitations.
The Liberty CodeConnect™ Wallbox 40/48, based on Wallbox’s Pulsar Plus charger, offers an alternative.
Co-developed by Wallbox and Liberty Plugins, it enables secure, offline access through Liberty’s patented time-synced keypad system.
Here’s how it works:
- A driver purchases a session code via app or web.
- They enter it on the CodeConnect™-enabled Wallbox Pulsar charger.
- The code is validated locally, no Wi-Fi or LTE needed.
- Charging starts instantly.
This model is especially valuable for public parks, seasonal properties, or rural sites, where connectivity can’t be guaranteed, but reliable charging still matters.

A Shared Commitment to Smarter Infrastructure
At a time when the EV landscape is evolving rapidly, it’s clear that infrastructure must evolve with it – not merely in terms of more chargers, but smarter ones. That includes addressing challenges like offline access, cost-efficient management, and integration with existing systems.
The Wallbox & Liberty Plugins partnership is one example of how collaboration can help move the industry forward – by aligning hardware, software, and user experience in a way that scales.
Whether you’re managing a portfolio of residential buildings or planning for future mobility in remote communities, the future of EV charging isn’t just connected, it’s adaptable.
