With Quasar 2 and the Wallbox Power Recovery Unit, you may be able to power your home using your vehicle’s battery!To use the Backup Power functionality, your home electrical service must not exceed 200A, as Quasar 2 will provide backup for your entire home. Home powering capacity is projected to be up to 3 days of power, based on an average 25 kWH daily usage and 99.8 kWh battery with 100% charge at start, when home is properly equipped. Results may vary depending on your actual consumption, vehicle usage, battery's State of Charge, and other factors. Wallbox Power Recovery Unit is required for Backup Power functionality. With the Power Recovery Unit (PRU), you can use your Kia EV9’s battery as a backup power source. During a blackout, the PRU detects the outage and generates a micro-grid using the vehicle's battery to keep your home powered. The system activates automatically, ensuring continuous operation of your appliances.To use the Backup Power functionality, your home electrical service must not exceed 200A, as Quasar 2 will provide backup for your entire home. Can I use Quasar 2 as a charger?

Quasar 2 can be used to charge your EV9, but it can do more. Quasar 2 operates as an advanced energy management system for the home which can provide Vehicle-to-Home capabilities.

What is bidirectional charging?

Bidirectional charging is a technology that can allow both the charging of an electric vehicle and to use the vehicle’s battery to power external devices.

What is the power capacity for V2H and Backup Power with the EV9, and what appliances can it power?

Powering a home during a power outage or power energy emergency.
In the event of power outage, Quasar 2 and your EV9 battery can provide energy to power your home. Powering a home during periods of peak energy demand. When energy demand is at its highest – for example, during extreme weather conditions – grid power may be expensive and under stress. By using energy stored in your EV9, you can reduce your use of peak grid power and potentially spend less money on energy. You can then recharge your EV9 when rates are lower.
Note: To operate in Vehicle-to-Home mode during a power outage, the Wallbox Power Recovery Unit accessory (sold separately) is also required.

Is professional installation required?

Yes. Quasar 2 is a complex energy management system that should only be installed by qualified and licensed professional electricians. Wallbox offers customers installation services through its premier service delivery solution provider COIL.

Are there any Federal Tax Incentives that I can take advantage of with the Quasar 2?

Yes, you can take advantage of Federal Tax Incentives with the Quasar 2 through the 30C Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit. Customers who purchase the Quasar 2 between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2032, may receive a tax credit of 30% of purchase and installation of the Quasar 2, with a max cap of $1,000. Starting in 2023, the credit now requires applicants to be located in designated census tracts (guidance and maps from the IRS coming soon) and follow prevailing wage standards to receive the full credit amounts.

Absolutely! You have the freedom to establish, remove, and edit scheduled charging sessions for your Wallbox charger via our app, regardless of your location.
