What is the best type of charger for home?

We recommend installing a Level 2 (Mode 3) charger, like any of our smart chargers, for the best experience. These chargers can deliver between 40km and 120km of range in just one hour! Compare that to the Level 1 (Mode 2) charger that often comes with your EV from the manufacturer and plugs directly into a 120v outlet. This type of chargers delivers only 20km of range in an hour and could take you a full day to fill your battery.
*Calculations are approximations based on the average consumption of 18 kWh per 100 km. Actual consumption depends on the vehicle, battery size, and driving conditions.

How much does it cost to charge my EV at home?

The price for charging your vehicle at home depends on how much you pay for each kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity used. In other words: if you're looking to fully charge a Nissan Leaf with a 62 kWh battery in the EU, you will pay around €13 with a maximum range of 364 km. However, if you’re looking to charge a Tesla Model X with its larger, 95 kWh battery, it will cost closer to €20 with a range of up to 625 km. The ultimate cost is still comparatively lower than for vehicles with internal combustion engines, not to mention the reduced cost to the environment due to CO2 emissions.

Do I need to upgrade my electrical installation if I want to install an EV charger at home?

Sometimes, but often not! For example, when using a Power Meter with your Wallbox charger you can enable dynamic load management, which adjusts EV charging speeds based on home power use. This prevents fuse issues and saves on costly electrical upgrades.

Can I charge my EV using solar energy?

That's correct! Our solar charging software lets you charge your EV with 100% solar energy or a mix of solar and grid energy. To enable solar charging, you must combine it with one of our power meters. Once installed, you just need to set your preferred mode right from the app Wallbox and let your charger do the rest.
*Requires a power meter
