Barcelona, December 20th 2022 – Wallbox, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy management solutions worldwide, has announced the installation of semi-fast and fast charging points for electric vehicles in the Andorran ski resorts that make up Grandvalira Resorts.
The chargers are located more specifically in the Grau Roig sector parking lots, where there are 18 charging points, and Costa Rodona, with two more. Both areas are equipped with the Commander 2 model, the most premium charging solution for semi-public spaces that the company has in its portfolio, with 7.4kW of charging power.
Wallbox has also installed a fast charging point with its Supernova model, which was presented by the company for the first time in October 2020. With 60 kW of power, Supernova is capable of adding up to 100 km of autonomy in less than 15 minutes.
Both Wallbox’s EV charger models are also capable of operating in adverse weather conditions and extreme temperatures, which can range from 25 Celsius degrees below zero to 40 Celsius degrees, which provides peace of mind to the EV drivers visiting Grandvalira, since one of the main concerns of the users is the loss of charging capacity in conditions outside their normal operating range.
All chargers are connected to the internet via Wi-Fi and 4G ethernet so that remote and real-time monitoring of the state of the infrastructure and the recharges made can be carried out. Each Commander 2 charger has a certified MID energy meter to enable users to charge energy, as well as having the “Dynamic Power Sharing” functionality, which distributes energy intelligently and in real time. among all the connected vehicles, taking advantage of the available energy of the building.
Sustainable energy management, a priority for Wallbox and Grandvalira Resorts
Thanks to the commitment of Wallbox and Grandvalira Resorts to innovation and to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions, the chargers will also be connected to the photovoltaic panels installed on the roofs of eight buildings spread throughout the ski resort. In this way, users will be able to use sustainable energy from the self-consumption system as a power source for their electric cars.
Grandvalira Resorts’ General Manager, Juan Ramón Moreno, points out that “we have made great efforts in terms of sustainability this season, and the installation of 20 vehicle charging points with Wallbox is one of the most important actions in this regard. Our goal is to continue betting on renewable energy and self-production. This season alone we have invested 2.5 million euros in projects related to sustainability and the environment”.
Iván Tallón, Wallbox’s Iberia Country Manager said: “We are very happy that Grandvalira Resorts has trusted Wallbox to continue promoting its sustainability strategy, offering its clients the peace of mind of being able to have charging points for electric cars in their parking lots while enjoying the slopes. In addition, the possibility of feeding cars with renewable energy thanks to the solar panels that connect directly to our chargers is a great differential. Alliances like this one help us get closer to our objective of promoting the massive transition towards the use of electric vehicles, offering users smart, pioneering and environmentally responsible solutions.”
